I work in Home Health and most times the doctor doesn't explain procedures, meds, wound care...to the patient and that's where we step in. Thanks for the poster site.

Re: Are you Just a Nurse?

well, my comment was directed to the preceptor. not the poster :)

Re: Are you Just a Nurse?

Suzanne Gordon is being tongue in cheek with the expression "I'm just a nurse." She knows how deprecating those words are and is trying to show people how we're not "just nurses" because of all the things we do, as she listed in her poster. I also made a mistake - she's not a nurse. She's a journalist who writes about nursing.

Re: Are you Just a Nurse?

Im just a nurse??? I guess being 30 years in nursing haven't taught her nothing to give value to what she does... <br>Nurses have to learn and accept that what they do is of extreme importance. We are the most important clinical profession.

Re: Are you Just a Nurse?

Hi, I am so glad you like my poster, but guess what I am not a nurse. I am a journalist who writes about nursing and has done so for the past 22 or more years. I hope people check out my website and blog and post things on it. also you can get copies of the poster by going there. And please, all nurses, if someone says, thank you, say something like " I was deighted to be able to help. and then tell them what you did i.e. manage their blood pressure, or pain, make sure they recovered from surgery, monitoring them to make sure they didn't get a wound infection. Taght's what the public needs to know about nursing.

Re: Are you Just a Nurse?

Amen, nurseSF, Amen!!
